A Distinctive Work of Buddhist Architecture at Wat Bang Riang
Phra Mahathat Chedi Phutthatham Banlue is one of the principal landmarks of Wat Rat Upatham, also known as Wat Bang Riang. The temple stands on Khao Lan in Bang Riang Subdistrict, Thap Put District, Phang Nga Province. The white chedi, decorated with gilded details, rises prominently above the lush green landscape.
The chedi rises approximately 109 metres from its base to the summit and is designed in three architectural levels. Its form reflects symbolic Buddhist concepts while bringing together architectural and artistic influences from several regions.
Buddha images, sculptures and intricate decorative details can be found within and around the monument. Visitors may pay respect at the sacred site, appreciate the chedi’s architectural features and experience a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by mountain scenery.
